 throughout the meeting.

  1. Tell me about yourself.

  2. What new or unique skills could you bring to the job that other candidates aren't likely to offer?

  3. What interests you most about this job?

  4. What do you know about our company?

  5. What would your dream job be like?

  6. What are you hoping to get out of your next job?

  7. Why are you applying for this position?

  8. Why are you leaving your current job?

  9. How have your career motivations changed over the last few years?

  10. What are your weaknesses?

  11. What are your strengths?

  12. How would you describe yourself?

  13. What are your goals in life?

  14. Where do you see yourself five years from now?

  15. What salary do you expect from this job?

  16. Why should we hire you?

  17. What are some positive adjectives your last boss would use in describing you?

  18. Tell me about a last minute assignment that put you under a short deadline.  How did you accomplish the task on time?

  19. Tell me about a situation when you were asked to do something that you thought was a conflict of interest.  How did you deal with the situation?

  20. Your supervisor has given you instructions to complete a project.  You are not clear as to some of the details of the instructions.  What do you do?

  21. Tell me about a time you had to learn a new skill in order to do your job.

  22. Tell me about a stressful work situation you have experienced and how you dealt with it.

  23. Tell me what task you least like to do at your current or more recent job.

  24. Tell me about the things you like about your current or most recent job.

  25. Describe a work situation in which you weren't proud of your performance.  What did you learn from the situation?

  26. In what ways have you invested in yourself to improve your performance?

  27. Describe a situation when you demonstrated initiative and took action without waiting for direction.  What was the outcome?

  28. Describe how you felt when a team you were on wanted to make a decision that you didn't agree with.

  29. Give me an example of when you were on a team that failed to meet its objectives.  What could the team have done differently?

  30. Tell me about a time when you overcame great obstacles to achieve something significant.

 

 

At the end of the meeting, candidates

 can ask their short list of questions.

  1. What are some of the strengths or skills you believe that the ideal candidate for this position should possess?

  2. If I'm hired, what duties will I be performing from day to day?

  3. Are there any opportunities for career advancement in this position?

  4. Does this position require me to work closely with others or will I be working alone mostly?

  5. If I'm offered the job, who will I report directly to?

  6. How does your company go about measuring an employee's job performance and how often is this employee appraisal done?

  7. Why did you yourself decide to work here?

  8. What particular qualities do you believe have contributed to your own success here?

  9. Is there a dress code?

  10. When will you be making a decision regarding the position?
